Falls Prevention
Falls among the elderly have a dramatic impact upon the individual and their families. A fall, especially one that results in a broken hip or other bones, can bring about dramatic life changes. Such changes could include a lack of confidence by the individual and/or their family about them living independently or moving to an aged care facility.
To remain independent the best thing to do is to address the key lifestyle issues early – after the first stumble – rather than wait and hope the situation goes away. The other thing to do is to reduce the impact of a fall by making your bones less fragile. The wonderful thing is that many of these tips are the others you will be adopting for other parts of your lifestyle – exercise, more vegetables, smoking cessation, and reducing alcohol
