Secure Messaging

Secure messaging will connect Healthcare providers so they will be able to securely exchange critical patient information in a timely manner between multidisciplinary multi sector care teams. The project will provide the capacity to strengthen communication strategies which will improve patient care and management.

Already a number of departments within the Redcliffe and Caboolture Hospitals have agreed to send critical patient communication to the patient's usual or referring GP including all patients presenting to Caboolture Emergency Department.

The purpose and aims of secure messaging are:

  • To enhance the provision of patient care and management by utilising a clinical messaging system to enhance existing communication methods used across the region and make it sustainable beyond the project funding timeline
  • To deliver an electronic communication system or systems which provides secure, effective and timely communication of patient information between multidisciplinary multi sector care teams
  • To engage with all health service providers in the Division to implement a secure electronic communication infrastructure between all participating healthcare providers in the Northside Health Service District
